University of Abuja Mourns Security Officer and Entrepreneur Saidu Lawal Yandaki

Abuja, June 13, 2026— The University of Abuja community is in mourning following the death of one of its dedicated security personnel, Mallam Saidu Lawal Yandaki, after a brief illness.

Family members and associates said Yandaki passed away at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, after battling an illness for about a week.

Beyond his duties as a security officer at the university, the late Yandaki was also the Chief Executive Officer of Yandaki Green Tea. The business earned him recognition among colleagues, friends, and customers within and outside the university community.

Described by associates as hardworking, humble, and committed, Yandaki was said to have contributed significantly to the safety and security of the institution while also building his entrepreneurial venture.

His death comes barely a year after he lost both his father and mother, a period friends say was deeply challenging for him.

He is survived by his wife and six children.

Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues, friends, and well-wishers who remembered him as a devoted family man and diligent worker whose absence will be deeply felt.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family. Muslim faithful have offered prayers for the repose of his soul, asking Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.

“Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.”
