ABUJA – In preparation for its upcoming National Convention, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the constitution of several high-powered committees and sub-committees. The move, aimed at ensuring a seamless and successful event, involves a diverse group of prominent political figures, technocrats, and seasoned professionals.

The National Convention is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. In a statement signed by the National Organising Secretary, Prince Chiedu Idigo, the party also issued a notice for an inaugural meeting of all committees today, Thursday, April 9, at the National Secretariat in Abuja.

Leadership of the Central Coordination Committee

Leading the charge is the National Convention Central Coordination Committee, which will serve as the official coordinating secretariat for the event. The committee is headed by Chairman H.E. Senator Liyel Imoke and Deputy Chairman H.E. Senator Aminu Tambuwal. Dr. Ajuji Ahmed will serve as Secretary, assisted by Princess Ada Ogbu-Aguocha as Deputy Secretary.

The committee also features several heavyweight members, including Prof. Pat Utomi, H.E. Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, Senator Ben Obi, and DIG Muhammad Zaki Gwandu (Rtd).

Specialized Sub-Committees and Mandates

To manage the logistical complexities of the convention, the ADC has established 12 specialized sub-committees with specific focus areas:

Venue Sub-Committee: Chaired by Senator Binos Yaroe Dauda, tasked with venue layout, branding, and staging.

Security Sub-Committee: Led by AVM Suleiman Adamu (Rtd), focusing on crowd management and liaison with security agencies.

Finance Sub-Committee: Headed by Senator Kashim Ibrahim, responsible for fundraising and resource mobilization.

New Media: Led by Rt. Hon. Afam Ogene and Aisha Yesufu (Deputy Chairman), managing the digital footprint and real-time engagement.

Delegates Accreditation: Chaired by Senator Ireti Kingibe, responsible for the verification of all voting delegates.

Legal and Convention Process: Led by Chief Olumide Akpata, providing legal guidance and documenting proceedings.

Programme and Events Coordination: Chaired by Senator Victor Umeh and Senator Dino Melaye (Deputy Chairman), overseeing the end-to-end design and execution of activities.

Other key appointments include Senator Gilbert Nnaji for Protocol, Senator Muhammed Ogoshi Onawo for Welfare, Senator Tony Nwoye for Medical services, and Senator Enyinnia Abaribe for the Entertainment sub-committee.

Strategic Mobilization

The inclusion of high-profile activists and politicians like Dino Melaye, Aisha Yesufu, and Chief Dele Momodu suggests the ADC is looking to maximize its public visibility and digital engagement.

With the inaugural meeting set for today, the party enters a high-intensity planning phase to meet the April 14 deadline, signaling a robust organizational push within the 2026 political landscape.
