Senator Yari Donates 85 Trucks of Fertilizer to Zamfara Farmers at Subsidized Rate
Gusau, Zamfara State – June 22, 2026
Former Governor of Zamfara State and Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, Marafan Sokoto, has donated 85 trucks of fertilizer to support farmers across the state ahead of the cropping season.
The donation was announced on Monday by Dr. Lawal M. Liman Gabdon Kaura, Chairman of the Senator Yari Political Organization and Chairman of the State Distribution Committee, after a committee meeting in Gusau, the state capital.
Subsidized rate to cushion input costs
Dr. Liman said the intervention is aimed at cushioning the impact of rising costs of farming inputs. Under the arrangement, beneficiaries will pay ₦20,000 per bag of fertilizer, compared to the current market price of ₦50,000 per bag.
“The intervention is designed to cushion the impact of rising costs of farmers inputs ahead of the farming season,” Dr. Liman stated.
He added that each farmer must pay the subsidized rate to ensure sustainability and responsible use of the commodity.
Distribution breakdown
According to the distribution plan released by the committee:
1. Each of the eight Local Government Areas in Zamfara North and Central Zones will receive 5 trucks of fertilizer.
2. Zamfara West Senatorial District, which is Senator Yari’s constituency, will receive 6 trucks per LGA.
Beneficiaries to be selected on merit
Dr. Liman emphasized that selection of beneficiaries will be based strictly on merit, not political affiliation.
“The beneficiaries must be genuine farmers who cannot afford fertilizer at the current market price,” he said.
The Chairman urged farmers and residents to make judicious use of the support. He also called on the people of Zamfara and Nigeria to remember Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, Zamfara State, and Nigeria in their daily prayers.
The statement was signed by Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad, Danmadamin Birnin Magaji, Chairman of the Publicity Committee, Senator Abdul'Aziz Yari Abubakar Political Organization.
