Niger State Pilgrims’ Board to Refund SR123 to Each 2026 Hajj Pilgrim from BTA Surplus
Minna, Niger State, 11 June 2026— The Niger State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board has announced a refund of SR123 to each pilgrim from the state who participated in the 2026 Hajj, following reconciliation of the Basic Travelling Allowance, BTA.
The Board said the refund was made possible after a review of exchange rates showed a surplus from BTA disbursement and logistics for the pilgrimage.
Surplus of About N46,000 Per Pilgrim
In a statement on Wednesday, Executive Secretary of the Board, Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Aliyu, explained that the surplus was about N46,000 per pilgrim. It was converted into Saudi Riyals at N375 per riyal, giving approximately SR123 per pilgrim.
“Arrangements have been concluded to ensure that all eligible pilgrims receive their refunds promptly and without delay,” Aliyu said.
Board Cites Transparency
The Executive Secretary said the refund demonstrates the Board’s commitment to transparency, accountability and prudent financial management.
He advised beneficiaries to liaise with their respective Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers, APWOs, or designated officials to facilitate collection.
Aliyu also appreciated pilgrims for their cooperation and discipline throughout the Hajj exercise, and reaffirmed the Board’s dedication to improving service delivery in future operations.
“The Niger State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board remains committed to safeguarding the welfare of pilgrims and upholding best practices in the administration of Hajj activities,” he added.
The statement was signed by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Jibrin Usman Kodo.
