MSSN A Zone Holds Community Engagement on Antenatal Care, Birth Planning in Zaria

Rimin Doko, Kaura, Zaria, Kaduna State – June 20, 2026

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, MSSN A Zone, has organized a community engagement session on Antenatal Care, ANC, Birth Planning and Facility Delivery for residents of Rimin Doko Community in Kaura Ward, Zaria Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

The outreach was held on Friday, June 20, 2026 at the Government Secondary School, Rimin Doko, Kaura, Zaria, as part of MSSN A Zone’s efforts to improve maternal and child health outcomes at the grassroots level.

Focus on safe motherhood and facility delivery

During the session, participants were sensitized on the importance of early antenatal care registration, developing personal birth plans, and delivering babies in health facilities under the supervision of skilled birth attendants.

Organizers emphasized that early ANC visits help detect pregnancy complications on time, while birth planning ensures pregnant women and their families prepare ahead for delivery, transportation, costs, and emergency support.

MSSN A Zone targets community health awareness

The engagement brought together women, expectant mothers, community leaders, and students from the host school. Facilitators used interactive discussions to address myths, misconceptions, and cultural barriers that often discourage facility delivery in rural communities.

MSSN A Zone noted that community-based education is critical to reducing maternal and infant mortality, and that partnerships with schools and local leaders help extend health messages beyond hospital walls.

Venue and participation

The event took place at Government Secondary School, Rimin Doko, Kaura, Zaria. Community members and students participated actively in question-and-answer sessions aimed at clarifying doubts about antenatal care services and available primary health facilities in the area.

The session adds to ongoing efforts by civil society and student groups in Kaduna State to promote safe motherhood practices and increase utilization of primary healthcare centers for maternal services.
