LPPC Elevates 89 Nigerian Lawyers and Academics to Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Rank for 2026
The Legal Practitioners' Privileges Committee (LPPC) has approved the elevation of 89 distinguished legal professionals to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) for 2026.
The newly elevated recipients comprise 77 legal practitioners and 12 law professors, all of whom were found to have met the requirements for the country's highest professional honour in the legal profession following the LPPC's screening and assessment process.
The SAN title is the highest distinction conferred on lawyers in Nigeria, recognizing exceptional excellence in legal practice, advocacy, legal scholarship, and contributions to the development of the justice system.

The conferment of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) rank remains the highest professional recognition in the Nigerian legal profession. The newly elevated Senior Advocates are expected to be formally sworn in during the official 2026 SAN conferment ceremony, where they will join the ranks of Nigeria's most distinguished legal practitioners and academics.
