Lagos Police Intercept Truck With Military Camouflage Uniforms, Suspected Illicit Drugs; 4 Arrested

Lagos, Nigeria – 2026

The Lagos State Police Command has intercepted an unregistered MAN diesel truck carrying 47 sacks of military camouflage uniforms and 80 cartons of substances suspected to be illicit drugs during an intelligence-led operation.

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the seizure. Police identified them as Chinedu David, 29; Ezeagwu Chukwuma, 38; Ifeanyi Ogbeanyi, 45; and Ndidiamaka Emeka.

Uniforms allegedly headed for South-East

Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Tijani, disclosed that preliminary investigations indicate the military uniforms were allegedly being transported to the South-East region.

CP Tijani said investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the items, ownership of the consignment, intended recipients, and other individuals connected to the shipment. The suspected illicit drugs have also been sent for forensic analysis to confirm their composition.

Police link uniforms to organized crime

The Command said the recovery underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to combating organized crime and preventing the unlawful circulation of military accoutrements often exploited by criminal elements for illegal activities.

Military camouflage is classified as restricted material under Nigerian law. Possession, sale, or distribution without authorization is an offense punishable under the Armed Forces Act and other relevant statutes.

Public urged to share credible information

The Lagos Police Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with credible information to enhance national security.

The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue. They will be charged to court upon completion of the probe, police said.

Note: The substances are described as “suspected illicit drugs” pending laboratory confirmation. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
