Federal High Court Adjourns PDP Leadership Suit to July 7, Judgment Expected Before July 11

The leadership crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set for a crucial legal showdown after a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja adjourned a suit involving the party's Board of Trustees (BoT) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to Tuesday, July 7, 2026, for the hearing of all pending applications and the substantive originating summons.

The case, which was heard on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, is before Justice Salim Ibrahim of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Following the adjournment, supporters of the PDP Interim National Working Committee (NWC) led by Turaki expressed optimism, noting that the court indicated judgment would be delivered before July 11, 2026.

If the timeline is maintained, the court's decision on the disputed leadership of the PDP is expected between Wednesday, July 8, and Thursday, July 9, 2026.

The judgment is widely anticipated as a major milestone in the protracted struggle over the party's authentic national leadership. However, legal observers note that any decision of the Federal High Court may still be challenged at the Court of Appeal and, ultimately, the Supreme Court of Nigeria, which has the final authority on such disputes.

The outcome of the case is expected to significantly shape the future of the PDP ahead of key political activities, with party members and stakeholders across Nigeria and in the diaspora closely monitoring the proceedings.
