FCT Police Rescue Five Kidnapped Victims in Byazhin, Neutralise Two Suspects, Arrest Two Others

 

Abuja, 11 June 2026— The FCT Police Command has rescued five kidnapped victims in Byazhin area of the Federal Capital Territory following an intensive joint operation led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi.


The operation, conducted on Monday, 9 June 2026 at about 9:00 p.m., targeted kidnapping incidents in Paze community, Byazhin. Two suspected kidnappers were neutralised during a gun duel, while two others were arrested.


How the Rescue Happened  

CP Sanusi personally led the clearance operation alongside operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Response Team, IRT, Kubwa Area Command, local hunters and vigilante groups.


During the operation, police engaged suspected kidnappers in a gunfight. Two suspects were killed and two others, identified as Icheh Mohammadu and Abubakar Usman, were arrested. Other gang members escaped into nearby hills with bullet wounds.


The team recovered two AK-47 rifles with magazines. The sustained pressure forced the criminals to abandon five hostages, who were rescued unharmed.


Victims Receiving Medical Care

The rescued victims have been taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Police said efforts are ongoing to reunite them with their families. Search operations are continuing across Paze, Byazhin and adjoining communities to apprehend fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network.


CP Sanusi commended the bravery and professionalism of the operatives and local volunteers. He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to combat kidnapping and violent crime across the FCT.


Public Urged to Report Gunshot Injuries 

The Command called on healthcare practitioners, private and public hospitals, and members of the public to report anyone seeking treatment for gunshot injuries or under suspicious circumstances.
