ACF Warns Nigeria Risks Anarchy Over Sunday Igboho’s Ultimatum to Fulani Residents

Kaduna, Nigeria – 2026

The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has cautioned that Nigeria risks descending into anarchy if the Federal Government fails to take decisive action against Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Igboho, following his recent ultimatum directing Fulani residents to leave a community after the alleged kidnapping of a pregnant woman and her relatives.

In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Tukur Muhammad Baba, the forum described the ultimatum as unconstitutional, dangerous, and capable of aggravating the country’s already fragile security situation.

ACF: No individual can order ethnic eviction

The ACF argued that no individual has constitutional authority to order the eviction of any ethnic group from any part of Nigeria. The forum said such actions threaten national unity and peaceful coexistence.

“Ethnic profiling is a many-sided sword, a recipe for anarchy and an aberration in the modern world,” the statement read.

The forum condemned what it called the blanket association of criminal activities with an entire ethnic group. It argued that the ultimatum unfairly presumes that the alleged kidnappers represent all Fulani people without exception.

Questions over identification of suspects

The ACF questioned the basis for concluding that the suspected kidnappers were Fulani. It noted that kidnapping has evolved into a criminal enterprise involving individuals from diverse ethnic, religious, and social backgrounds.

“It is not clear how he concluded that the kidnappers are of the Fulani ethnic group when we know that the criminal enterprise that kidnapping has evolved into involves all manner of people irrespective of social identities—ethnicity, religion, or gender,” the statement added.

The forum maintained that holding all Fulani people responsible for the actions of a few criminal elements is both unjust and counterproductive. It warned that such generalizations could worsen insecurity and deepen ethnic mistrust.

Call for action from authorities and community leaders

The ACF said state security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, and religious clerics have a responsibility to call the agitator to order and prevent the situation from escalating into ethnic tension.

The forum urged the Federal Government and relevant security agencies to act swiftly to prevent inflammatory rhetoric and ensure that criminal acts are addressed through lawful processes rather than ethnic-based accusations.

The statement was signed by Prof. Tukur Muhammad Baba, National Publicity Secretary of the Arewa Consultative Forum.
