Zulum Commends Tinubu Over Approval of Three Federal Institutions for Borno
BA MA, Borno State— Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving three federal institutions for the state within three years of assuming office.
Zulum made the remarks on Sunday in Bama during a sympathy visit to residents affected by a windstorm that struck part of the town last week.
He noted that since President Tinubu took office, approvals have been given for the take-off of the Federal College of Education, Gwoza; the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Azare; and the Federal University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship, Bama.
Zulum said the institutions would improve access to education and healthcare and create employment opportunities for residents. He added that the projects would support post-insurgency reconstruction and economic recovery in the state.
“I want to draw your attention to the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship, Bama, by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, just two days ago,” Zulum said. “The pioneer principal officers were appointed. This is a remarkable achievement.”
He also cited the establishment of the Federal College of Education, Gwoza, and the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Azare, under the current administration. “I want to commend him and assure him that the people of Borno State will reciprocate the kind gesture at the appropriate time,” he said.
Last year, Zulum announced the handover of Umar Ibn Ibrahim El-Kanemi College of Education, Science, and Technology, Bama, for the immediate commencement of academic activities at the new federal university. He also approved ₦1 billion for its take-off.
The governor said his administration had provided over ₦5 billion in support for the Federal Polytechnic, Monguno; Federal College of Education, Gwoza; and National Orthopaedic Hospital, Azare, to facilitate their establishment.
During the visit, Zulum also inspected ongoing construction work for the 19 Brigade headquarters in Bama, which he said was aimed at consolidating security gains and restoring civil authority in the area.
