Umahi Says South-East Will Vote Tinubu in 2027, Cites Infrastructure Gains

ABUJA — Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has said the South-East will reciprocate President Bola Tinubu’s support for the region by voting for him in the 2027 general elections, citing infrastructure projects executed under his administration.

Speaking on the region’s political outlook, Umahi described the outcome of the 2023 election in the South-East as “an accident of history” that would not be repeated in 2027.

“In 2027, South-East people will reciprocate what President Tinubu has done for the region and for the infrastructures he has built for us,” he said. “What happened in the last election was an accident of history and will not happen in 2027 election. He has treated us very fairly and we will all vote for him. Whoever wants to argue with me can argue.”

Umahi, a former governor of Ebonyi State, has repeatedly credited the Tinubu administration with prioritizing road and infrastructure projects in the South-East since assuming office in 2023.

The 2027 general elections are scheduled for February 2027.
