Timi Frank Alleges Fresh Plot by FG against El-Rufai

ABUJA— Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Timi Frank, has alleged that security agencies are planning to manipulate audio and video recordings linked to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai in an effort to damage his reputation and justify his continued detention.

In a statement issued on Friday, Frank claimed El-Rufai has been under intensive surveillance while in custody, alleging that conversations between the former governor, his family members, and legal representatives were being secretly monitored and recorded.

According to Frank, security operatives have gathered extensive audio and video materials from El-Rufai’s detention facility and are reviewing the recordings for content that could be used against him.

He further alleged that authorities intend to deploy artificial intelligence tools to alter portions of the recordings to create incriminating material.

“Nasir El-Rufai has been placed under constant surveillance even while in detention,” Frank alleged.

“The ICPC facility where he is being held has reportedly worked with the DSS to monitor his room. They have accumulated several hours of audio and video recordings of his conversations, including those with his lawyers and relatives,” he claimed.

Frank also alleged that officials are examining the recordings with the intention of selectively editing or manipulating certain sections.

“The intention is to deploy AI tools to modify some of these recordings in order to implicate El-Rufai. They then plan to release the altered recordings to the media,” he alleged.

The former APC spokesman described the alleged actions as part of what he called a broader campaign aimed at discrediting El-Rufai and ensuring he remains in detention for an extended period.

“This forms part of a deliberate strategy to tarnish El-Rufai’s reputation and keep him in custody,” Frank stated.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Department of State Services, DSS, nor the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, had publicly responded to the allegations. Likewise, there has been no official confirmation of the claims regarding surveillance, detention conditions, or the alleged manipulation of recordings.

The allegations come amid heightened political tensions and public interest surrounding developments involving El-Rufai, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s political landscape.
