Soludo Warns Clerics Against Fake Miracles, Says “Perform Them at Amaku Hospital”
AWKA, Anambra State— Governor Chukwuma Soludo has warned religious leaders against alleged fake miracle practices, saying the Anambra State government will no longer tolerate deceptive activities carried out in the name of religion.
Speaking during a public engagement, Soludo said security agencies had arrested several individuals posing as pastors and bishops linked to fraudulent miracle claims and exploitative religious practices.
He said anyone claiming genuine healing powers should demonstrate them in a recognized medical facility rather than exploiting vulnerable citizens.
“We have arrested fake pastors and bishops. Whoever wants to perform a miracle should come to Amaku Hospital,” Soludo stated.
The governor said his administration is committed to sanitizing the state and protecting residents from criminal activities disguised as religious worship. While reaffirming respect for freedom of religion, he said the government would not allow citizens to be exploited through false prophecies, staged miracles, or other deceptive acts.
Soludo also reiterated his administration’s crackdown on criminality, ritual practices, and fraud across Anambra State, adding that law enforcement agencies would continue to investigate suspicious religious and spiritual centers operating in the state.
The remarks have sparked mixed reactions. Supporters praised the governor’s stance against alleged fraudsters, while critics cautioned against unfairly targeting genuine religious leaders.
In recent months, the Anambra State government has intensified efforts to curb insecurity and restore public confidence in state institutions.
