Nami Alleges Irregularities in APC Niger South Senatorial Primary Process
MINNA— Former Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Muhammad Nami, has alleged irregularities in the All Progressives Congress senatorial primary process for Niger South Senatorial District.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Nami said efforts to reach a consensus among aspirants had been undermined by moves to bypass party and constitutional procedures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the development had disrupted ongoing reconciliation efforts among aspirants but maintained that he would continue with his bid to represent Niger South in the Senate. Nami stated that his aspiration was aimed at creating opportunities for disadvantaged communities and attracting development to the district.
Nami also noted that some aspirants involved in the discussions had not been cleared by the APC. He did not name the individuals or specify the actions he alleged constituted a breach of due process.
The former FIRS chairman said he would proceed with developmental initiatives for Niger South regardless of the outcome of the primary. He directed his local government coordinators and party members to begin arrangements for the distribution of projects and scholarship programmes previously promised to beneficiaries across the district.
Nami urged supporters and APC members to remain calm and law-abiding, and said further directives would be communicated in due course.
The APC in Niger State and the party’s state executive had not issued a public response to the allegations as of press time.
