Kwankwasiyya Leader Backs ADC Ahead of 2027, Warns Against Vote-Splitting
JIGAWA, Nigeria— A leading figure in the Kwankwasiyya movement, Mallam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, has declared support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general election, warning that fragmented opposition politics could inadvertently aid President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election.
Ringim said the ADC is the only viable opposition platform for 2027 and called for alignment over scattered political ambitions. He described the party as having the structure, discipline, and national reach needed to mount a serious challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The next election will not be won by noise, scattered ambition, or political experiments that divide the same frustrated voters who want change,” he said. “It will be won by alignment, structure, discipline, and a platform strong enough to carry a national rescue mission.”
The Kwankwasiyya leader also rejected the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), arguing that any arrangement that divides the northern vote would undermine the opposition’s chances.
“If any political arrangement ends up dividing the Northern vote and quietly helping Tinubu’s re-election, then Nigerians have every right to question its purpose. Opposition politics must not become a gift to the ruling party,” he said.
Ringim urged the North to adopt a more strategic approach, saying Nigeria “cannot afford another cycle of anger without strategy.” He added that citizens seeking change must understand that fragmentation benefits those in power.
“2027 is not the time for political gambling. It is the time to build one serious opposition vehicle with national reach, grassroots strength, and the courage to confront APC,” he said.
For Jigawa and the wider North, Ringim said the ADC is “no longer just an option. It is becoming the rallying point.”
