Katsina Unites behind Yar’Adua’s Governorship run
Katsina Delegates Endorse Sadiq Yar’adua’s 2027 Governorship Bid Under ADC
KATSINA, Nigeria— Delegates from all 34 local government areas of Katsina State have declared support for Senator Abubakar Sadiq Yar’adua’s governorship ambition on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The delegates visited the senator at his residence on Saturday to reaffirm their commitment to his candidature ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Addressing the gathering, Yar’adua said his decision to contest was driven by the desire to contribute to the development of Katsina State and improve living conditions for residents. He said consultations with stakeholders across the 34 LGAs influenced his decision to join the race.
The senator recalled contesting the 2023 governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that his political aspiration has always been motivated by service to the people.
He said he personally purchased the nomination form after receiving calls from supporters and political associates across the state urging him to run.
“What remains now is for every supporter to return to his local government and continue doing the necessary mobilisation. This project is not for personal interest but for the wellbeing of the people considering the hardship they are facing,” Yar’adua said.
He pledged to run an inclusive administration anchored on consultations with citizens if elected governor.
“We will run a government for the common people. Just as I consulted widely before taking this decision, we will continue to engage people at the grassroots to ensure that government policies reflect the needs of the people,” he added.
Yar’adua said his administration would emulate the leadership style of late Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa and late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, describing them as leaders known for people-oriented governance.
He thanked the delegates and supporters for attending the meeting and endorsing his ambition.
