Kaduna Lawmaker Awards Scholarships, Exam Support to 1,540 Students

A member of the House of Representatives, Bello El-Rufai, has reportedly provided educational support to 1,540 students across various tertiary institutions and academic programmes, according to figures contained in a scholarship and educational intervention report circulating on social media.
The breakdown shows that beneficiaries were drawn from universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, nursing institutions, and secondary school examination programmes.
According to the report, Kaduna State University, KASU, received the highest allocation, with 107 beneficiaries receiving support valued at ₦12 million. Kaduna Polytechnic followed with 100 beneficiaries and ₦6 million, while Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic recorded 67 beneficiaries with ₦5 million in assistance.
Other institutions listed include:
1. Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria – 100 beneficiaries, ₦5 million
2. University of Abuja – 50 beneficiaries, ₦5 million
3. Air Force Institute of Technology, AFIT – 100 beneficiaries, ₦3 million
4. Federal University Dutsin-Ma, FUDMA – 43 beneficiaries, ₦2.5 million
5. College of Education, Zaria – 80 beneficiaries, ₦2.5 million
6. College of Education, Gidan Waya – 83 beneficiaries, ₦2.5 million
7. Midwifery School, T/Wada – 30 beneficiaries, ₦2 million
The report also indicated that 600 students from Islamic and fellowship schools benefited from educational assistance amounting to ₦11.5 million, while 180 candidates received support for WAEC and NECO examinations valued at ₦4.08 million.
In total, the programme reportedly reached 1,540 beneficiaries, with a cumulative educational intervention valued at approximately ₦61.08 million.
Supporters of the initiative have described it as a significant investment in human capital development. Observers say such educational interventions can help reduce financial barriers to learning and improve access to academic opportunities for young people.
