Federal High Court Adjourns El-Rufai’s Case With DSS to 19 May
ABUJA— The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the hearing in the case between former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and the Department of State Services to Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
The adjournment was granted during proceedings on Monday, 18 May. The court did not give detailed reasons for the postponement in open court.
El-Rufai was re-arrested by the DSS shortly after securing bail in a separate matter before the same court. The DSS had charged him over alleged unlawful interception of communications linked to the Office of the National Security Adviser, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The court had earlier granted him bail set at N100 million with one surety, subject to conditions that include surrendering his international passports and reporting monthly to DSS headquarters.
The matter before the court on Monday relates to the DSS case in Abuja. It is separate from earlier proceedings involving the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission in Kaduna.
El-Rufai has been in detention since February 2026. The case is expected to continue when the court resumes on Tuesday.
