Gombe Groups Push for Atiku-Pantami Alliance Ahead of 2027 Elections
GOMBE, Nigeria— Political groups in Gombe State are reportedly calling for a strategic alliance between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A statement circulating on social media, authored by Ahmed Suleiman Geidam, urges Pantami to align with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and form a unified front aimed at “rescuing Nigeria” in the next election cycle.
The proposal outlines Atiku as presidential candidate and Pantami as gubernatorial candidate for Gombe State under a shared vision for 2027. Proponents argue that the current political climate requires “patriotic leaders” to join forces to secure a better future for the nation.
Analysts say the call reflects an early effort to consolidate northern political influence by pairing Atiku’s political reach with Pantami’s technical and academic profile.
There has been no official confirmation from either Atiku or Pantami regarding the proposed alliance. However, the spread of campaign material online suggests grassroots mobilization in the Northeast is already underway.
“The time has come for leaders with the nation’s interest at heart to unite and build a bright future for the community,” the Gombe community appeal stated.
