Former ADC Youth Leader Apologizes, Aligns with David Mark Faction

ABUJA — Former National Youth Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Sultan Ahmed Bello, has publicly apologized for his role in the party’s internal crisis and declared allegiance to the faction led by Senator David Mark.

In a statement issued on Friday, Bello said he conspired with Nafi’u Bala Gombe during his tenure as youth leader under Bala’s faction, describing the actions as wrong and harmful to the party’s stability. He said he now accepts full responsibility and is seeking forgiveness from party members and the public.

Bello apologized to key ADC figures and stakeholders, including David Mark, Babachir Lawal, Atiku Abubakar, Abubakar Malami, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and Rotimi Amaechi, praising them for standing for peace, truth, and unity within the party. He said the leaders accepted his apology and advised him to remain on the side of truth and avoid future actions that could undermine the ADC and Nigeria’s democratic process.

The former youth leader stated that he is now committed to the faction led by Senator David Mark, which he described as the legitimate leadership of the party. He also claimed that Nafi’u Bala Gombe was aware that he had already resigned from his position as Deputy National Chairman of the ADC, a development that remains disputed within the party.

Bello said he intends to help resolve the internal crisis and hinted at an imminent political development that could help end the dispute.

“I have learned valuable lessons from this experience, and I am choosing the path of peace, truth, and unity,” he stated, appealing to Nigerians and party supporters to forgive his past actions.

He expressed optimism that the party would emerge stronger from the crisis and prayed for guidance in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.
