ESG Launches Crowdfunding Campaign for El-Rufai’s 2027 Presidential Bid

 

The El-Rufai Support Group (ESG) Association has launched a public crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for the purchase of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement signed by the group’s Director General, Dr. Uche Diala, the association said the decision followed consultations and calls from Nigerians urging El-Rufai to contest for the presidency in 2027. 

The Board of Trustees of the ESG Association resolved to coordinate the process of obtaining the presidential nomination forms of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on El-Rufai’s behalf, the statement said.

The group described the former governor as a leader with experience in public office and said the fundraising initiative would allow supporters to contribute voluntarily toward the purchase of the party’s forms.

ESG released a temporary donation account and asked contributors to send proof of payment via a designated WhatsApp number. The group said it would publish the total amount raised and the names of contributors after the exercise to ensure transparency and accountability.

The statement expressed confidence that El-Rufai would consider running for president despite what it called his “current and temporary circumstances.”

The announcement is expected to add to ongoing political discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections as consultations and alignments continue across parties and opposition platforms in Nigeria.
