Danjuma Leads ₦3B Donation as Dangote, Rabiu Back Gowon’s Memoir Launch

ABUJA— Retired Gen. Theophilus Danjuma donated ₦3 billion toward the public presentation of former Head of State Retired Gen. Yakubu Gowon’s autobiography, held in Abuja on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Dangote Group, contributed ₦500 million, while Abdul-Samad Rabiu, President of BUA Group, purchased copies of the book worth ₦25 million.

The 20-chapter memoir, titled My Life of Duty and Allegiance, was presented at a ceremony attended by top government officials, diplomats, and senior military officers. Vice President Kashim Shettima represented President Bola Tinubu at the event.

Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, Matthew Kukah, reviewed the book. Danjuma, listed as Chief Presenter, was represented by retired Gen. Martin Luther Agwai, former Chief of Defence Staff.

Danjuma also directed the purchase and distribution of 12 copies of the book to the libraries of each of the 20 universities that awarded Gowon honorary doctorate degrees.
