Dahiru Bauchi Emerges Governorship Candidate

BAUCHI— The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has affirmed Naziru Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections in Bauchi State.

The affirmation took place during the party’s special delegates’ congress held on Thursday in Bauchi.

Dahiru Bauchi is the son of the late renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi. His emergence signals APGA’s bid to strengthen its presence in the state ahead of the 2027 polls.

Congress Affirms Candidacy

Delegates at the congress unanimously affirmed Dahiru Bauchi’s candidacy, positioning him to fly the party’s flag in the governorship race. Party officials described the process as peaceful and transparent.

APGA leaders at the event expressed confidence that Dahiru Bauchi’s background, family name, and connection to the state would resonate with voters. They said the party is focused on presenting candidates with credibility and grassroots appeal.

Who is Naziru Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi?

Naziru Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi is the son of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, a respected Islamic scholar whose teachings and influence extend across northern Nigeria and beyond. The late cleric was known for his advocacy of peaceful coexistence and religious education.

Political observers note that Dahiru Bauchi’s candidacy could mobilize support among followers of his father’s legacy, particularly in Bauchi State where the cleric had a large following.

APGA’s 2027 Strategy

The affirmation comes as political parties begin early positioning for the 2027 general elections. APGA, which has maintained strong influence in the South-East, is seeking to expand its footprint in northern states.

Party officials said the choice of Dahiru Bauchi reflects APGA’s commitment to fielding candidates with strong community ties and moral standing.

What’s Next

With his affirmation, Dahiru Bauchi is expected to begin consultations and grassroots mobilization across Bauchi State ahead of party primaries and the 2027 governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is yet to release the official timetable for the 2027 elections, but political activities are already gathering momentum nationwide.

APGA is expected to unveil its full campaign structure and policy agenda for Bauchi State in the coming months.

As of press time, other political parties in the state had not reacted to Dahiru Bauchi’s emergence as APGA’s candidate.
