Bid for Kaduna 2027 Under ADC

KADUNA, Nigeria — Jafaru Ibrahim Sani has formally declared his intention to contest for governor of Kaduna State in the 2027 election on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement released on Saturday, Sani said his decision followed “careful reflection and wide consultations” with party leaders, stakeholders, and citizens across the state.

“Kaduna State is at a critical turning point. The choices we make today will determine whether our children inherit a state of opportunity and progress or one of decline and missed chances,” he said.

Sani said those he consulted expressed confidence in his public service experience and grassroots connection, adding that they believe “Kaduna can rise again with the right leadership.”

He acknowledged the reforms and progress made under former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, citing “bold reforms, a clear vision, strong political will, and a commitment to building for the next generation.”

However, Sani said the current reality shows a loss of momentum. “It is clear to many of us today that this momentum is dead! The reality on our streets, in our institutions, and in our communities tells a different story. We see growing concerns about governance, limited engagement with opposition voices, and a weakening of the systems that once drove progress and accountability.”

His mission, he said, is to restore direction and improve on past achievements by building a more sustainable and resilient economy. He pledged to prioritize job creation, support youth and entrepreneurs, and ensure development reaches every part of the state.

Sani described the ADC as “a credible platform for unity, progress, and inclusive leadership,” saying the party offers a chance to build on experience with a renewed focus on fairness, empathy, and good governance.

He called on members of all political parties and citizens concerned about the state’s future to join the movement.

“This is not just a political movement; it is a collective effort to reclaim the promise of our state. Let us strive to build a state where leadership is defined by competence, integrity, and service,” he said.
