ADC’s Peter Adejoh Declares for 2027 Benue Governorship Race

MAKURDI, Benue State — Peter Adejoh of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared his intention to contest the 2027 Benue State governorship election, saying he aims to unseat incumbent Governor Hyacinth Alia and reposition the state economically.

Adejoh announced his candidacy on Monday, stating that his campaign would focus on economic revitalization, job creation, and improved governance in Benue. He said the state needed a leadership shift to address challenges in agriculture, security, and infrastructure.

The ADC candidate did not outline specific policy proposals but said he would release a detailed manifesto ahead of the election.

Governor Hyacinth Alia of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was elected in 2023 and is eligible to seek a second term in 2027.

The Benue governorship race is expected to draw multiple contenders as political activities begin to pick up across the state ahead of the general elections.
