ADC Slashes Nomination Fees Ahead of 2027 Elections

ABUJA, Nigeria — The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a downward review of its nomination fees for elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections, following appeals from party members.

In a statement issued by the party’s national headquarters, the ADC said the decision was taken in response to concerns raised by stakeholders who described the previous rates as prohibitive and capable of limiting participation, particularly among younger aspirants and underrepresented groups.

Under the revised fee structure, the cost of nomination forms is now set as follows:

- Presidential: N90 million

- Governorship: N30 million

- Senate: N10 million

- House of Representatives: N5 million

- State House of Assembly: N2 million

The party also introduced a *25% discount for youth, women, and persons with disabilities (PWDs)* in an effort to broaden inclusion and encourage wider participation in the political process.

Political observers say the move reflects growing pressure within opposition parties to lower financial barriers to candidacy as political alignments intensify ahead of 2027. The ADC, which has been navigating internal leadership disputes and realignment talks in recent months, appears to be positioning itself as a more accessible platform for emerging candidates.

While the party did not disclose the previous fee levels, the reduction is expected to draw interest from a broader pool of aspirants across the country. The ADC has yet to release a timeline for the sale of forms or the commencement of its internal primaries.

Party officials said the new rates take immediate effect and urged interested candidates to follow official channels for further details.
