ADC Remains Our Path to Rescue Nigeria, Says Senator Akobundu as He Pledges Loyalty Amid Defections

UMUAHIA, Abia State— Senator Austin Akobundu representing Abia Central has reaffirmed his commitment to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), urging party faithful in Abia State and across Nigeria to remain steadfast despite recent defections by some prominent members.

In a statement titled _“Resolve is Unshaken: A Message to all ADC Faithful in Abia State and Beyond,”_ Akobundu said the party’s politics is anchored on principle and a genuine mission to rescue Nigeria from insecurity, poverty, hunger, and disease, rather than on short-term political gains.

“While we do not begrudge them, I wish to state categorically that our politics is not based on fleeting gains but is motivated by a genuine cause to rescue Nigeria,” he said, noting that achieving such a goal requires perseverance and strategic collaboration among patriots committed to the common good.

The senator thanked members for showing “strength in the face of what seems like a drawback, clarity in the face of chaos, and conviction in the face of confusion,” adding that the exit of a few should serve as motivation rather than discouragement.

After wide consultations, Akobundu declared he had chosen to remain in the ADC and would work with other nationalists across the country to advance the party’s ideals. He called on members to stay resolute, stressing that “this is not the time to waver; it is the time for Nigeria to Arise and Shine.”

The Abia Central senator concluded with a rallying call for unity and renewed commitment to the ADC’s vision, ending with the slogan:

ADC...Arise and Shine Nigeria!
