ADC Gubernatorial Aspirant Kidnapped, Killed on Kaduna-Abuja Highway After Ransom Paid

KANO— Alhaji Hon. Abba Anas Adamu Laushi, a former House of Representatives member and gubernatorial aspirant for Jigawa State under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), was kidnapped and killed on the Kaduna-Abuja highway last Friday.

According to reports shared on social media, Laushi was traveling to purchase his nomination form when he and one other person were abducted by gunmen. The kidnappers were said to have demanded a ransom of ₦75 million.

The other abductee reportedly escaped, but Laushi was killed even after the ransom was paid. His remains are being transported to Kano for burial.

Laushi represented the Birniwa, Guri, and Kirikasamma federal constituency in Jigawa State between 2007 and 2011. At the time of his death, he was seeking the ADC governorship ticket for Jigawa State.

The incident adds to a series of attacks on the Kaduna-Abuja corridor, a route frequently targeted by bandits in recent years.

In a statement mourning his death, associates said: “It is heartbreaking that he met his end at the hands of these heartless criminals while on a journey to fulfill his political aspirations. We pray that Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest and mercy. May Allah bring an end to these forest bandits and those who hinder the efforts to defeat them. Amin.”

The report was lifted from Datti Assalafiy’s social media page. Police and security agencies have not yet issued an official statement on the incident as of press time.

  1. Rijf insh'aa'Allah. Killing, abduction and ransom demands have become a legitimate and lucrative business enterprise, in the North and some regions of the nation. Nigeria police have no impact on the Masse's safety and their belongings. .
