ADC fixes date to select its presidential candidate

 ADC Releases 2026 Primary Timetable, Sets May 25 for Presidential Contest

ABUJA, Nigeria— The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released its detailed timetable for the 2026 primary elections ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to a public notice signed by National Organizing Secretary Prince Chinedu Idigo, the party’s roadmap to the 2027 polls will begin this May and culminate in a Special National Convention.

Key Dates for Aspirants

The pre-primary phase is already underway, with the following deadlines for interested candidates:  

- Collection of Application Forms: April 1 – May 4, 2026  

- Sales of Nomination Forms*: May 5 – May 10, 2026  

- Submission of Completed Forms: May 11 – May 13, 2026  

- Screening of Aspirants: May 14 – May 15, 2026  

- Final List of Cleared Aspirants: May 20, 2026  

Primary Election Schedule

The party said it will adopt a mix of “Direct and Consensus” modes for its primaries, to be conducted largely at the ward and national levels.
