Youth Party Releases Timetable for 2026 Congresses, National Convention; Opens Sale of Forms



The Youth Party has announced the official timetable and guidelines for its 2026 Ward, Local Government Area, State Congresses, and National Convention, with the sale of nomination forms set to close on May 10, 2026.

In a statement on Sunday, the party said the congresses present “a unique opportunity for every member to take charge of the leadership of the party or partake in the election of others, in line with our Constitution.”

The electoral process will begin with Ward Congresses on May 16, followed by LGA Congresses on May 18, State Congresses on May 20, and the National Convention on May 23, 2026. Screening of aspirants will run from May 11 to May 17, with appeals scheduled a day after each screening.

A total of 22 positions will be contested at the Ward, LGA, State, and National levels, including Chair, Deputy Chair, Secretary, Legal Adviser, Publicity Secretary, Treasurer, Organizing Secretary, Auditor, Policy & Strategy Secretary, Financial Secretary, Youth Leader, Women Leader, and Leader of Persons with Disability (PWD), among others.

Nomination fees range from ₦2,500 for Ward-level offices to ₦250,000 for National Chair. The party pegged fees for Ward Chair at ₦5,000, LGA Chair at ₦10,000, State Chair at ₦100,000, and National Chair at ₦250,000. Female aspirants will receive a 50% discount on screening fees.

The party said elections will be conducted through physical, manual, and secret balloting, with only verified and financially up-to-date members eligible to vote. It urged members to mobilise at least 25 new members per ward to participate.

2027 Primaries Timetable Also Released

The Youth Party also released its schedule for primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections. Sale of forms will run from March 2 to May 20, 2026, with screening on May 25, appeals on May 26, and primaries on May 29, 2026.

Nomination fees for elective offices are ₦35 million for President, ₦14 million for Governor, ₦2.5 million for Senator, ₦1.5 million for House of Representatives, and ₦250,000 for State House of Assembly. Women, youths under 40, and Persons with Disabilities are eligible for a 50% discount.

Payments for primaries are to be made to Zenith Bank account 1015846526 under the name Youth Party Primaries.

Membership Revalidation, State Meetings

The party directed members to revalidate their membership in line with the Electoral Act 2026 to remain eligible to vote and be voted for.

It also disclosed that State Working Committee meetings were held in March in Bauchi, Borno, and Bayelsa to strengthen structures, improve member engagement, and enhance grassroots mobilisation.

The National Working Committee met on March 1 and 15, while the National Executive Council met on March 28, 2026.

The party reminded members that monthly dues of ₦1,000 remain essential to sustaining operations and urged financial support.
