Supporters Decry Adjournment as Kaduna Court Delays Ruling on El-Rufai’s Bail Application

KADUNA — The Kaduna State High Court on Tuesday, 21 April 2026, adjourned the bail application of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the first week of June 2026, drawing strong reactions from his supporters.

In a statement issued after the ruling, Engr. Anas Adam, a supporter of the former governor, described the adjournment as a delay of justice. “Destiny can only be delayed but can never be denied,” he said.

“Today Tuesday 21st 2026, the state High Court in Kaduna state adjourned the bail application of His Excellency Malam Nasir El-Rufai to the first week of June 2026. We are watching. Nigerians are watching and we are not fools,” the statement read.

The statement further alleged that the repeated adjournments would not last indefinitely, adding: “Let them continue adjourning the bail case till infinity if they like. We know that both the presiding judge, the incumbent governor and the president will not remain on their seats to infinity and they will meet the Judge of all judges in the day of Reckoning.”

Expressing confidence in the former governor’s eventual release, Engr. Adam said: “Victory is ours Insha Allah. His Excellency Malam Nasir El-Rufai is with God, and we the good people of Kaduna State and Nigerians are with His Excellency Malam Nasir El-Rufai in this trying time. Nothing evil will happen to him Insha Allah. They plan, but Allah plans and Allah is the best of all planners.”

The court has not issued an official statement on the reason for the adjournment. The bail hearing is now expected to resume in the first week of June 2026.

The former governor’s legal team had not commented publicly on the adjournment as of press time.
