A student of University of Jos, identified as John Arum, has reportedly been kidnapped while traveling to Kaduna State, sparking widespread concern among students and the public.

According to information circulating within student circles, a disturbing video allegedly recorded on the victim’s phone was shared in a WhatsApp group associated with the university shortly after the incident. In the footage, the student is said to be undergoing severe abuse, raising fears for his safety and well-being.

Sources indicate that the abductors have demanded a ransom of ₦30 million. Since the video surfaced, there has been no confirmed communication with the victim’s family, and it remains unclear whether they have been officially notified.

Unverified reports suggest the involvement of criminal elements operating within the region, although authorities have yet to issue a formal statement confirming the details of the incident or the identity of those responsible.

The development has intensified concerns over rising insecurity and kidnapping cases across parts of Nigeria, particularly along major travel routes.

Students and concerned individuals are calling for urgent intervention by security agencies, urging the government to take decisive action against criminal networks and ensure the safe rescue of the victim.

Efforts are also underway on social media to amplify awareness of the situation in hopes of reaching the victim’s family and expediting a coordinated response.

As of the time of filing this report, no official update has been released by security authorities regarding rescue operations or arrests.
