Nigeria Deepens Grenada Ties as Officials Praise Impact of Nigerian Experts

 

ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada— Nigeria has moved to strengthen its diplomatic and development partnership with Grenada following high-level talks in St. George’s, where Grenadian officials praised the contributions of Nigerian professionals and called for deeper cooperation, particularly in healthcare and technical assistance.

The renewed commitment emerged during an official visit by the Director-General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Yusuf Buba Yakub, who led a delegation to the Caribbean nation as part of Abuja’s broader push to reinforce South-South cooperation with countries in the African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) bloc.

During the visit, the Nigerian delegation, which included NTAC Director of Programmes Ambassador Bello A. Jaye, held strategic discussions with Grenada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Joseph Andall. The minister commended the impact of the NTAC scheme in Grenada and reaffirmed his country’s readiness to sustain and expand collaboration with Nigeria.

At a separate meeting with officials of Grenada’s Ministry of Health, discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in healthcare delivery, capacity building, and technical support, with both sides exploring ways to deepen existing partnerships.

Speaking during the engagements, Yakub reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to South-South cooperation through the NTAC initiative, which deploys skilled Nigerian professionals to partner nations to support human capital development and institutional growth.

He noted that the programme remains in line with the foreign policy direction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in advancing international solidarity and development partnerships.

Ambassador Jaye stressed the importance of strategic alliances in tackling shared challenges, especially within the health sector, and assured Grenada of Nigeria’s continued support through technical expertise and knowledge exchange.

Grenada’s health authorities also expressed appreciation for Nigeria’s sustained support, noting the significant role Nigerian experts have played in strengthening the country’s healthcare system.

Officials described the visit as another milestone in Nigeria’s leadership role in South-South cooperation and a reaffirmation of its commitment to shared development among partner nations.
