Relief and thanksgiving have followed the reported release of John Arum, a graduate of the University of Jos, who was recently abducted by suspected terrorists along the Jos–Kaduna highway.
A video now circulating widely on social media shows Arum reunited with members of his family, visibly emotional as they offer prayers and gratitude to God for his safe return.

The incident had earlier triggered widespread concern across the country after a disturbing video emerged online showing the victim being physically assaulted by his captors. The footage sparked public outrage and renewed criticism over the persistent insecurity on major highways in Nigeria.
Days after the first video went viral, unverified reports began circulating that Arum had been killed by the abductors, further heightening tension and fear among relatives, friends, and concerned Nigerians.

However, in a subsequent development on Monday, 20 April, the abductors reportedly released another video confirming that Arum was still alive, bringing a measure of hope before news of his eventual release.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities and family sources have yet to disclose the circumstances surrounding his freedom, including whether any ransom payment was made.
The development has once again reignited national conversations around the growing threat of kidnapping and terrorist activities on inter-state routes.
