BREAKING: APC Crisis Deepens in Gombe as SDP Moves to Court Pantami, Loyalists

GOMBE— Fresh political tension is building in Gombe State after the Social Democratic Party (SDP) publicly called on former Communications Minister, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, and his supporters to join its fold amid alleged cracks within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a strongly worded press statement, the SDP said recent events within the APC in Gombe have exposed what it described as “deep cracks in internal democracy” and growing frustration among loyal stakeholders.

The opposition party questioned what it called the continued silencing of voices and the exclusion of committed members, insisting that the moment had come for aggrieved politicians and supporters to rethink their political future.

According to the statement, the SDP remains “the true home of fairness, justice and equal opportunity,” promising a political platform where aspirations are respected and every voice matters.

“The future belongs to those who choose courage over compromise. The time to act is now,” the statement said.

The party made a direct appeal to Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami and his supporters to align with the SDP under the leadership of the Gombe State Chairman, Alhaji Sani Buba Dada Wagga.

The statement was signed by the Media Aide to the Acting National Chairman, Rt. Comrade Muhammad Al-Amin Murtala, CISSP, GCGSS.

The development comes amid ongoing political speculation around Professor Pantami’s influence in Gombe politics ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle. However, recent reports indicate that Pantami had publicly reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC during the party’s membership revalidation exercise in Gombe earlier this year, where he was welcomed by party executives and supporters.

His continued involvement in APC activities, including financial support for the party’s grassroots e-registration process in the state, has fueled discussions about a possible governorship ambition.

Political observers say the SDP’s latest move may be part of wider efforts to capitalize on emerging tensions within the APC and attract influential figures ahead of future contests.
